Terms of Use
Last updated: October 22, 2026
These terms explain the rules for using VoltSim, what you can expect from us, and what we expect from you. Please read them carefully. They include rules for the VoltSim community and how we deal with content and behavior that breaks those rules.
The short version
- VoltSim is for learning, teaching, designing and sharing electronic circuits.
- The circuits you make are yours. When you publish one to the community, everyone can see it, and other members can run, copy and change it.
- We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. We remove objectionable content and the people who post it.
- Report anything that breaks these terms to voltsim.app@gmail.com. We act on reports within 24 hours.
- Simulations are approximations. Don't rely on VoltSim alone where safety is at stake.
This summary is here to help. The full terms below are what apply.
1. About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and us, the developer of VoltSim (“we”, “us”, “our”). They apply whenever you use VoltSim, which means the VoltSim apps on any platform, the VoltSim web app, the website at voltsimulator.com, and the online services that come with them, such as accounts, cloud sync, share links and the community.
By downloading, opening or using VoltSim, you agree to these terms. Before you like, save or publish a community circuit for the first time, the app also asks you to accept them. If you don't agree, please don't use VoltSim.
Our Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect and how we use it.
If you got VoltSim from Apple's App Store, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the “Standard EULA”) also applies. These terms add to the Standard EULA, and if the two conflict about your license to use the app, the Standard EULA wins. If you got VoltSim from Google Play, the Google Play Terms of Service also apply to that download and to purchases you make through Google Play.
These terms replace our previous Terms and Conditions, which were effective from April 2, 2025.
2. Who can use VoltSim
- You don't need an account to use the simulator.
- You must be at least 13 years old to create a VoltSim account or to use the community.
- If you are under 18, or under the age of majority where you live, you may only use VoltSim with the permission of a parent or guardian. They accept these terms on your behalf and are responsible for your use of VoltSim, including any purchases.
- You may not use VoltSim if the law prohibits you from doing so.
3. Your account
- Keep your sign-in details secure. You are responsible for what happens under your account. If you think someone else has used it, tell us right away at voltsim.app@gmail.com.
- Your username and public profile can be seen by anyone, including people who aren't signed in. Usernames must follow the community rules, and we may reset a username that doesn't.
- Accounts are personal. Don't sell or transfer your account, and don't create a new account to get around a suspension or a ban.
- You can delete your account at any time in the app's settings. Deleting it permanently removes your account, your public profile, your cloud-synced projects and the circuits you published to the community. Projects saved on your device stay there.
4. Your license to use VoltSim
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable license to use VoltSim for learning, teaching, hobby and professional work, as these terms allow.
VoltSim, including its software, design, built-in example circuits, documentation and the VoltSim name and logo, belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by law. These terms don't give you any rights to use our name or logo.
You must not:
- copy, modify, distribute, sell, rent or sublicense VoltSim or any part of it;
- reverse engineer, decompile or try to extract the source code of VoltSim, except where the law allows this despite this restriction;
- remove or change any copyright or other notices;
- get around purchases, ads, device limits or other technical restrictions; or
- use bots, scrapers or other automated means to collect content from VoltSim, for example to build a competing service or a dataset.
Open-source components included in VoltSim are licensed under their own terms, and nothing in these terms limits the rights those licenses give you.
5. Purchases, subscriptions and ads
- Some features need a one-time purchase or a subscription. The app shows what is included and the price before you buy.
- Purchases made in the app are processed by Apple or Google. Their terms apply to payment, billing, cancellation and refunds, and refund requests for those purchases go to them. Purchases made on our website are covered by our Cancellation & Refund Policy.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel. You can cancel in your App Store or Google Play account settings, and you keep access until the end of the period you've paid for. To avoid being charged for the next period, cancel before it starts (Apple requires at least 24 hours' notice).
- When you're signed in, your purchases are linked to your VoltSim account so you can restore them on your other devices. We may limit how many devices can use a purchase at the same time; the app tells you when a limit applies.
- Prices and what a purchase includes may change in the future. A change doesn't affect a purchase you've already made, and subscription price changes follow the app store's rules, including telling you in advance.
- Free versions of VoltSim may show ads.
- If you are a consumer, the law of the country where you live may give you rights in relation to digital content and services you buy. These terms don't affect those rights.
6. Your projects and content
- You own the circuits and other content you create in VoltSim. We don't claim ownership of them.
- Your projects are saved on your device. If you use cloud sync, copies are stored on our servers so they can sync between your devices. If you create a share link, anyone who has the link can open the shared circuit, so only share links with people you trust.
- You give us permission to store, copy, process and transmit your content as needed to provide the features you use, for example to sync, share or publish it. This permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies that other people already made from circuits you shared or published.
- Please keep your own backups of important projects. The app lets you back up and export them.
7. The community
7.1 What the community is
The community is a public space in VoltSim where members publish circuits, and where everyone can view, run, like, save and copy them. Anyone can browse it; you need an account to take part. Published circuits, with their titles, descriptions, tags and preview images, and your username and profile, can be seen by anyone, including people who aren't signed in.
7.2 Accepting these terms
Before you like, save or publish a circuit for the first time, the app asks you to accept these terms. We may ask you to accept them again when we change the community rules.
7.3 Rights you give when you publish
When you publish a circuit, you keep ownership of it, and you give:
- us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, display, distribute and adapt the circuit and its title, description, tags and preview image, to operate, promote and improve VoltSim. For example, we may show it in the feed, feature it, create previews, translate its description, or show it on our website or social media. This license ends when the circuit is removed from the community;
- every VoltSim user a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to view and run the circuit, copy it into their own workspace, change it, and use it and their changes for their own learning, teaching and projects. This includes publishing a changed version in the VoltSim community, as long as they credit you and describe what they changed. Copies made while your circuit was published can stay in other members' workspaces after it's removed.
You confirm that you have the right to publish the circuit and to give these licenses, for example because you made it yourself or because it's based on a community circuit that you credit as described above, and that publishing it doesn't break the law or anyone else's rights.
7.4 Community rules: zero tolerance
The VoltSim community is a place to learn electronics, and many of its members are students. We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. You must not publish a circuit, or use a username, title, description or tag, that contains or links to:
- anything illegal, or that promotes or helps with illegal activity;
- sexual content or nudity, or anything that sexualizes minors;
- hate speech, or content that attacks or demeans people because of their race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age or any similar characteristic;
- harassment, bullying or threats, or content that encourages anyone to harm themselves or others;
- violent or gory content;
- circuits or instructions meant to hurt people or damage property, such as weapons, or to break the law, such as signal jammers or devices that tamper with electricity meters;
- personal information about anyone, including you, such as home addresses, phone numbers or email addresses;
- spam, unsolicited advertising, scams, phishing, malware or deliberately misleading content;
- impersonation of another person, an organization, another member or VoltSim; or
- content you don't have the right to share, such as someone else's circuit published as your own.
You also must not:
- harass, threaten, bully or abuse other members;
- manipulate likes, views, copies or rankings, for example with multiple accounts or automated tools; or
- create accounts to get around a suspension or a ban.
We may also decline or remove circuits that are empty, don't work, duplicate other circuits, or aren't useful to other members, and we choose which circuits to feature.
7.5 How we moderate
- A person reviews every circuit before it appears in the community. We may also use automated tools to help find problems, such as filters for offensive words in usernames, titles and descriptions.
- If we believe content or behavior breaks these terms or the law, we may reject or remove the content, limit its visibility, reset a username, or suspend or permanently close an account. We take into account how serious the problem is, whether it was intentional, and whether it has happened before.
- Because we have zero tolerance, when content is objectionable we remove it and remove the person who posted it from the community by suspending or closing their account. The same applies to anyone who abuses other members.
- If content suggests a threat to someone's life or safety, we report it to the relevant authorities.
7.6 Reporting content and users
If you see a circuit, a username or behavior that breaks these terms or the law, email us at voltsim.app@gmail.com with:
- the circuit's title and its author's username, or a link to it;
- why you believe it breaks these terms or the law;
- your name and email address (you may leave out your name when reporting child sexual abuse material); and
- a statement that you believe, in good faith, that your report is accurate and complete.
We act on reports within 24 hours. We confirm that we received your report, review it, and remove content that breaks these terms within that time, and we tell you what we decided.
If you believe a circuit infringes your copyright, report it the same way and also tell us which of your works you believe it copies. We remove infringing content and close the accounts of repeat infringers.
7.7 If we act on your content or account
If we reject or remove your content, or restrict your account, we tell you why, usually with a notification in the app or by email, unless the law doesn't allow it or the content is spam. You can ask us to review the decision by emailing voltsim.app@gmail.com within six months. A person reviews every appeal, and we tell you the outcome. This doesn't affect your right to go to court.
7.8 Removing your circuits
You can ask us to remove a circuit you published at any time by emailing voltsim.app@gmail.com, and we will remove it promptly. Deleting your account removes all of the circuits you published. Copies that other members made before a circuit was removed can stay in their workspaces.
8. Acceptable use
Whenever you use VoltSim, you must not:
- break the law or infringe anyone's rights;
- try to access accounts, data or systems you aren't allowed to, or probe or test the security of VoltSim without our permission (if you find a security problem, please tell us at voltsim.app@gmail.com);
- interfere with or disrupt VoltSim, overload it, or spread malware; or
- use VoltSim in a way that could harm other people, our members or us.
9. Simulations are for learning
VoltSim simulates components with simplified models, so results can differ from real components and circuits. Don't rely on VoltSim alone for designs where safety matters, such as anything connected to mains electricity, high voltages or large batteries, or medical, automotive or safety-critical equipment.
Our review of community circuits checks them against these terms, not whether they work or are safe to build. When you build a real circuit, follow proper safety practices and get qualified help when you need it.
10. Other services and links
VoltSim works with services run by other companies, such as sign-in providers, app stores, payment processors, and analytics and advertising providers. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies, and we aren't responsible for them. Links to other websites are provided for convenience; we don't control those websites.
11. Changes to VoltSim and to these terms
We keep improving VoltSim, and we may add, change or remove features. We may also stop offering VoltSim or parts of it; if we do, we'll try to give you reasonable notice.
We may update these terms, for example when we add features or when the law changes. The date at the top of this page shows when they last changed. If a change is significant, we'll let you know in the app or by email before it takes effect, and we may ask you to accept the new terms before you continue to use the community. If you keep using VoltSim after a change takes effect, the updated terms apply. If you don't agree with them, stop using VoltSim and, if you like, delete your account.
12. Suspension and termination
- You can stop using VoltSim at any time, and you can delete your account in the app.
- We may suspend or close your account, or restrict your access to VoltSim or the community, if you break these terms or the law, if the law requires it, or to protect our members or VoltSim. We tell you why and how to appeal, as described in section 7.7.
- Closing an account doesn't by itself entitle you to a refund, except where the law requires one.
- Sections of these terms that by their nature should continue after your account is closed, such as the licenses for copies other members already made, the disclaimers and the limits on liability, continue to apply.
13. Disclaimers
To the extent the law allows, VoltSim is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind. We don't promise that VoltSim will be free of errors or interruptions, or that simulation results will be accurate. Community circuits are the responsibility of the members who publish them, and we don't endorse them.
If you are a consumer, these terms don't affect your legal rights, for example that digital content you buy must match its description.
14. Liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for loss of profits, data or goodwill, that arise from your use of VoltSim, and our total liability to you for all claims is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for VoltSim in the 12 months before the claim and USD 50.
These limits don't apply to liability that can't be limited under the law that applies to you, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for intentional or grossly negligent conduct. If you are a consumer in the EU or the UK, we are responsible for foreseeable loss and damage that we cause by breaking these terms or by failing to use reasonable care and skill.
15. General
- If you are a consumer, nothing in these terms affects the rights that the law of the country where you live gives you, including your right to bring a claim in your local courts.
- If a court decides that part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
- If we don't enforce a part of these terms straight away, we can still enforce it later.
- We may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms to someone else, for example if VoltSim is sold, as long as this doesn't reduce your rights. You may not transfer yours.
- These terms, together with our Privacy Policy and, where they apply, the app store terms and our Cancellation & Refund Policy, are the whole agreement between you and us about VoltSim.
16. Contact us
For questions about these terms, reports, appeals and copyright complaints, email voltsim.app@gmail.com. You can also reach us from the app under Settings → Contact.
This email address is also our single point of contact for users and authorities under the EU Digital Services Act. We communicate in English.
